Alex and her escape partner ran toward the street but quickly became blocked in. Police cars with flashing blue and red lights tried to contain the chaos but failed. When the screaming people realized they couldn’t run away using their cars, they chose to use their feet.
Others stood and filmed the creature with their phones thinking they were safe. Several times an enormous appendage slammed down on top of them. Most were so fixated on the creature to even know they were already dead.
Something about the creature pulled at your senses. It wanted to be seen. Yet, looking at it for too long, Alex quickly realized, had her mind slipping into madness. She was doing that now.
The longer tentacles of the creature rose up into the sky still searching. Before her eyes, they seemed to grasp at an invisible object hovering in front of the moon. As it probed, a blackness spread out and hundreds of somethings came pouring out onto the sandy shore.
Behind the multitude an even larger creature waited. Based on its proportions to the one in the sea, it clearly had to be three times the size, at least.
Alex’s attention was drawn back to what spread across the sand. It wasn’t spreading at all. They were running. Not away but towards the people. Hundreds upon hundreds of car sized monsters with jet black skin and countless eyes ran for humans. None of them had heads or tails or even a face. They were just multi-limbed, thousand eyed, black creatures of death.
