That shouldn’t be out there.
Warm sea air blew through Alex’s long blonde hair. She tilted her face towards the full moon. Before she closed her eyes, movement caught her attention.
White caps formed at the top of angry swells. Something dark and sinuous burst from them like a giant snake with no head. It was hard to make out exactly what it was from shore, but the moon helped a little.
Alex blinked rapidly and then rubbed her eyes. Nope. Still there. She glanced side to side at the summer time partiers. They saw it too. Music stopped playing from somewhere far away as hundreds of people pointed to what she was seeing.
More rope monstrosities erupted from the churning sea. They whipped back and forth as if searching the sky. It was total chaos.
Someone screamed drawing Alex’s focus back to the horrific event. A pitch black dome broke the surface. It was wider than two tanker ships floating nose to tail. The moonlight reflected off its wet surface giving it an oily appearance.
Continuing to rise and rise out of the water, it was already too large to have hidden in the deep ocean. A greenish-white illuminated crescent began to follow the dome. It wasn’t a sliver, though, but a gigantic eye.
The sickly colored orb swiveled back and forth inside the gelatinous head. That’s when all hell broke loose.
